Global Shift Hat Pattern

Global Shift Hat Pattern

The Global Shift Hat serves as the perfect introduction to the distinctive offset globe cables from a vintage Swedish cable pattern that defines the Global Shift Collection. The hat features the signature cable work that elegantly converges at the crown. This quick and satisfying knit combines the collection’s textured garter stitch base with five cable panels, creating a hat that’s both visually striking and wonderfully warm. Worked in the round from the bottom up, it features a folded ribbed brim and clever crown decreases that integrate seamlessly with the cable pattern.

Knitted in The Fibre Co.’s Herb & Hue, this plant-dyed extra-fine Merino creates a hat with exceptional softness and rich, complex color derived purely from plants. The yarn’s excellent stitch definition ensures the offset cables remain crisp and clear, while its natural warmth makes this hat perfect for chilly autumn and winter days. As a one-skein project, this hat offers an ideal way to experience the luxury of botanical color and the satisfaction of the Global Shift cable pattern. Let this be your gateway to the Global Shift Collection that honors both tradition and innovation.

Yarn:

The Fibre Co. Herb & Hue (100% extra fine Merino wool, 214 m (234 yd) per 100 g hank) – 1 [1] hank. Shown in shades Byzantium Velvet, Black Forest and Canterbury Fields.

Construction notes:

The Global Shift Hat is worked in the round from the bottom up. The ribbed brim is worked first, followed by the cabled body of the hat. The crown is shaped with decreases, some of which are cleverly hidden in the cables.
